Study on Friction and Wear Behavior of Graphene Reinforced CuW Composites

    • The improvement of power transmission and transformation level and grid capacity urgently needs to enhance the friction and wear properties of the electrical contacts of high-voltage circuit breakers. The addition of graphene can effectively improve the wear resistance of CuW composites. The ball/pin-on-block reciprocating sliding test was used to simulate the wear resistance of graphene-reinforced CuW composite under actual insertion and extraction conditions. The results show that at room temperature, the addition of graphene can reduce the friction coefficient, wear amount and surface roughness of CuW composites, and improve its wear resistance. At 500 ℃, the hard carbide particles formed by adding graphene destroy the oxide layer formed on the surface, which can cause the effect of graphene and carbide on the improvement of friction and wear resistance to be weakened. Therefore, the high-temperature friction-resistant wear properties of the CuW composites and the graphene-enhanced CuW composites are not much different.
