Effect of Extrusion Process on Microstructure and Properties of Mg-Al-Ca-Zn Alloy

    • The effects of different extrusion processes on the microstructure and properties of MG-2.0Al-1.5Ca-0.8Zn alloy were investigated by means of OM, SEM, tensile test and corrosion test at temperatures of 320-400℃ and different extrusion ratios of 32 and 64. The results show that the grain size of the alloy increases with the increase of extrusion temperature and extrusion ratio. With the increase of extrusion temperature, the tensile strength of the alloy increases gradually, while the elongation and corrosion resistance increase first and then decrease. The alloy extruded by extrusion temperature 400℃ and extrusion ratio 32 has the highest tensile strength of 268.5 MPa. The alloy extruded by extrusion temperature 360℃and extrusion ratio 64 has the best plasticity, and its elongation is 27.4%. The alloy extruded by extrusion temperature 360℃and extrusion ratio 32 has the best corrosion resistance, and its corrosion loss rate is 226.4 mg/(cm2·h).
