Effects of Aging Process on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Low Pressure Casting A356 Alloy Wheel

    • The effects of one-step and two-step aging on the microstructures and mechanical properties of the important parts of the low pressure casting A356 alloy wheel were studied. The results show that compared with one-step aging, in the alloy treated by two-step aging, the eutectic silicon is small globular and evenly distributed, and Mg2Si are fine and compact, and the corresponding mechanical properties are better. The tensile properties of two-step aging at the inner wheel rim are the best, with the tensile strength reaching 290.8 MPa, the yield strength reaching 231.1 MPa, and the elongation reaching 9.2%.In the wheel production, the use of two-step aging instead of one-step aging can effectively shorten the construction period and save energy consumption.
