Optimization of MIG Welding Process Parameters Based on Response Surface Method

    • The MIG weld morphology of Q235 steel was studied and the welding process parameters were optimized.Based on the response surface method(RSM), the mathematical model between welding voltage, welding current, welding speed and reinforcement, weld width was established. The weld morphology was measured intelligently by laser vision sensor. The obtained weld reinforcement and weld width were taken as the characterization values of weld appearance quality, the effects of different welding parameters on the reinforcement and weld width were analyzed by variance analysis and response surface analysis, the welding process parameters were optimized. The results show that the established mathematical model can accurately predict the weld morphology, and the error between the predicted value and the experimental value is less than 5%. The welding current and welding speed have the greatest interactive influence on the reinforcement. The weld width and reinforcement increase with the increase of welding current and welding voltage.
