Research Status of Stationary Shoulder Friction Stir Welding

Stationary shoulder friction stir welding technology（SSFSW） is a new welding technology based on the research of traditional friction stir welding（FSW）. It not only inherits the advantages of traditional friction stir welding, but also can effectively solve the problems of FSW, such as temperature gradient along the thickness direction and flange defects.The research status of stationary shoulder friction stir tools, SSFSW process of aluminum alloys, magnesium alloy between homogeneous and dissimilar materials and other materials were reviewed.
