Research Status and Prospect of Steady Magnetic Field Assisted Laser Welding Technology

As an added energy, the steady magnetic field is introduced into the the laser welding process, and the interaction with the flowing melt produces Lorentz force, which can change the flow behavior and heat and mass transfer process of the melt in the molten pool, thus effectively optimizing the laser welding process and welding quality such as more stable pool, more uniform solidified structure, better weld bead morphology, lower welding stress and smaller weld deformation. The research results of steady magnetic field assisted laser welding were listed, and the mechanism, beneficial effect and influence rule of steady magnetic field on laser welding were summarized, and the future development of magnetic field assisted laser welding technology was prospected.
