Research on Defects in Moulding Metal Parts by Selective Laser Melting

The selective laser melting technology is widely used in 3D printing of metal parts. However, various defects inevitably occur in the forming process, which seriously affect the performance of the parts. The principle of selective laser melting technology was briefly introduced. The types of major defects, causes and improvement approaches were summarized, which can provide some guidances for the improvement of the quality of 3D printed metal parts.
