Abstract:
Ceramic matrix composites, due to their excellent high strength and low density properties, are ideal weight-reducing materials for aero engines. Their superior high-temperature resistance promotes their application in high-temperature components of various types of aero engines. The composition of ceramic matrix composites applied to domestic and foreign aero engines was systematically elaborated, relevant preparation and joining technologies were illustrated, and the practical application status of such composites in aero engines was demonstrated. A standardized testing system should be established domestically. A progressive research and development spectrum should be constructed, and the collaboration among industry, academia and research should be deepened to break through the bottlenecks concerning the reliability of high-load rotating parts and low-cost manufacturing, thereby supporting the engineering application of the next generation of high thrust-to-weight ratio and low fuel consumption engines.
