Abstract: The reasons for the cracking of 38CrMoAl cylinder liner were analyzed and studied by means of chemical composition analysis, metallographic analysis, mechanical property analysis and fracture scanning electron microscope analysis. There are many inclusions in the basemetal of the cylinder liner, long in size, and in the form of thin strips which plays a splitting role in the basemetal. This is the main reason for cracking.
